Diane Mayhew - email protected Job Description The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Department of Human Services (DHS) merged on July 1, 2022 to form one agency, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
We are seeking a Maintenance Repairer to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC) in Glenwood, which offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities.
This is a full-time opportunity with a working schedule of 7:
30 am - 4:
00 pm; Monday-Friday.
Employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes.

This position will fabricate, maintain, and repair adaptive and therapeutic equipment for persons with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Some job duties include:
Fabricates, maintains, and repairs adaptive and therapeutic equipment specifically designed for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Performs skilled carpentry work to construct, install, and maintain furniture such as adaptive equipment for activities of daily living.
Uses machine tools to fabricate or modify metal parts for wheelchairs, durable self-care adaptive equipment and ensure it conforms to specifications and tolerances as required.
Repairs and maintains movable parts such as hydraulic cylinders that are used to adjust seat positioning devices.
Applies protective coats of paint, varnish, lacquer and other protective materials to the surface of equipment.
Assembles wheelchair and adaptive equipment using pipe fitting and other skills.
Perform preventative maintenance following manufacturing recommended guidelines for adaptive and therapeutic equipment Sew a variety of textiles and other soft materials for adaptive and therapeutic equipment using a sewing machine and hand sewing Stock repair shop with necessary tools and supplies.
Store, maintain, and repair machines, tools, hardware, and other materials.
Maintain a work environment that is clean, orderly, and free of clutter and debris.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License.

Three years of full-time work experience in two or more of the recognized building and mechanical trades (carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning, machinist, machine repair, masonry, painting, pipe fitting, plumbing, refrigeration, and welding).
Three years of a combination of experience (as described in number one) and education, where thirty semester hours of post high school education in an accredited building or mechanical vocational program equals one year of experience.
Current and continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as a Trades Helper.
