- Raising Our Aspiring Rams Program
District initiative to provide a customized early track future teacher program to meet the demands for educators in the future both at Glenwood and the education community more broadly.

Glenwood High School students may begin committing to the program as early as the fall of their 11th grade year to begin taking concurrent coursework through Iowa Western CC.
Students may also apply their 12th grade year as well.

Upon graduation, the GHS graduate will begin immediately as an educational associate and continue taking IWCC pre-BA education coursework online in the evenings and/or weekends.

Upon completion of the A.
A.
program, the student will continue on for their B.
A.
in Elementary Education through either the University of Northern Iowa, William Penn University, or an additional BA partner.
Secondary and hard to fill certifications are also desired from other partner universities.

The student will remain a full-time associate (paraprofessional) during the school day while taking coursework online.

We are proposing to UNI and William Penn to alter the traditional student teaching requirements to the following:

The student will student-teach days (PM or AM) for a full year in 2 different places IN GLENWOOD.

The student will be allowed to continue as an associate employee opposite of their student teaching placement in Glenwood.

GCSD will have the first right of refusal to interview the graduate depending on teacher openings and successful completion of degree attainment and licensure.

Total Program Costs are discounted for the AA
BA online program for a total of $28,000.
If accepted to the R.
A.
E.
program, GCSD will commit to paying for a 50% of the total tuition reducing the student obligation to $14,000 (2022 estimate).

This will require a 5 year clawback teaching commitment on behalf of the student/employee upon graduation.
Termination or resignation prior to the fulfillment of the 5 years of teaching, will result in a depreciated payback schedule to the district.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
